UGA Football Faces Tough Schedule Ahead For 2025 Season

By Don Stone, Football Atlanta

The Georgia Bulldogs head into the 2025 season with a challenging but enticing schedule, full of marquee matchups and pivotal SEC showdowns that will shape their College Football Playoff aspirations. It’s basically the same schedule as 2024 but reversing home and away games.

With rising quarterback Gunner Stockton expected to take the helm and a roster flush with top recruits, Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs look to make another run at conference and national glory.

                                                                 Key Games & Schedule Highlights

                                                                          Non-Conference Openers:

Aug. 30 vs. Marshall: Georgia kicks off its year at Sanford Stadium against a strong Marshall team that went 10-3 last season and won its conference.

Sept. 6 vs. Austin Peay: An early confidence-builder as UGA welcomes a less-established FCS foe.

                                                                                                                         SEC Gauntlet:

Sept. 13 at Tennessee: The first true test, away in Knoxville, with Tennessee always a threat in the SEC East.

Sept. 27 vs. Alabama: The Crimson Tide return to Athens for the first time in a decade, providing a huge measuring stick for Georgia.

Oct. 11 at Auburn: A heated rivalry game on the road, always demanding and unpredictable.

Oct. 18 vs. Ole Miss: Lane Kiffin’s high-powered offense visits Athens, adding another challenge to the Bulldogs’ schedule.

                                                                                                           Annual Rivalries & Showdowns:

Nov. 1 vs. Florida (Jacksonville): The neutral-site matchup with the Gators is always crucial for SEC East supremacy.

Nov. 15 vs. Texas: The Longhorns make their first-ever trip to Athens—potentially a top-10 clash with huge playoff stakes. The Longhorns will be out to avenge a pair of losses to UGA including the SEC Championship Game.

Nov. 29 vs. Georgia Tech (Atlanta): State bragging rights are settled at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in a reimagined “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate”.
