Panthers Fall in Season Finale. Finish at 1-11, Winless Sun Belt
Georgia State fell 27-10 to Old Dominion on the road Saturday afternoon. Freshman Derrick Avery Jr. snagged the solo touchdown for the Panthers to mark his career-first touchdown reception. Jordon Simmons totaled 88 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack in the game, picking up 5.2 yards per carry along the way. Djay Braswell also tacked on 46 yards on the ground, picking up 4.2 yards per carry. Ted Hurst hauled in seven catches for 76 yards to surpass 1,000 season receiving yards.

31-19, at Troy
Christian Veilleux threw for 307 yards and Javon Robinson put up 146 receiving yards, but Georgia State fell to Troy 31-19 on the road Saturday afternoon. Veilleux went 19-for-38 on the way to the 307-yard, one-touchdown outing with one interception. Jordon Simmons totaled 67 yards to lead the Panthers' ground attack in the game. Trojans quarterback Goose Crowder threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns in his first start since early September. The Panthers close out the season at Old Dominion on Saturday.

Tj Finley led Georgia State's passing attack with a season-high 251 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown and two interceptions. Marshall quarterback Carlos Del Rio-Wilson enjoyed his return to his hometown on Saturday as he threw for 321 yards and rushed for another 97 while accounting for three touchdowns in the Herd's 30-18 win over Georgia State at Center Parc Credit Union Stadium. The Panthers' only win of the season was against winless Murray State, and that was back on September 13.

The Chanticleers improved to 6-3 on the year and 5-1 in Sun Belt Conference play, while the Panthers fell to 1-8 overall and 0-5 in conference matchups. Jordon Simmons led all Panthers rushers with 99 yards and one touchdown in the contest, picking up 5 yards per carry. Georgia State head coach Dell McGee framed Thursday’s home clash with South Alabama as a defining test of discipline and growth for a developing Panthers team. McGee admitted the season’s struggles have been frustrating. “We’re still finding our identity,” McGee said. “The effort and commitment have been there, but our execution in critical moments has to improve. After starting conference play last week, the Panthers remain at home to host App State for Homecoming Saturday, Oct. 11 at 3:30 p.m. Georgia State is looking for its first win against App State. The starting QB position is still up for grabs between TJ Finley and Cameran Brown. Previously this season, Finely has had the start, with Brown coming in throughout. Receiver Ted Hurst leads the Panthers through another season, totaling 406 yards on 28 receptions and two touchdowns.

Hurst Leads Panthers to 37-21 Victory over Murray State
Georgia State scored first and never trailed on the way to a 37-21 victory against Murray State Saturday at home at Center Parc Stadium. "Wins are hard to come by, and we're gonna celebrate them when we do have them," HC Dell McGee said. "We have some things that we need to work on in all three phases, but really proud of our guys' effort." The triumph improved Georgia State to 1-2 on the season while the Racers fell to 0-3. Kennesaw State Football to Play Home-and-Home Series with Georgia State in 2026, 2028
Separated by less than 25 miles on Interstate 75, Kennesaw State football and Georgia State will play each other in a home-and-home series beginning in 2026, the schools announced Thursday. The Owls will kick off the in-state series by hosting the Panthers on Sept. 12, 2026 at Fifth Third Stadium before traveling to downtown Atlanta to face GSU at Center Parc Credit Union Stadium on Sept. 23, 2028. The two teams have faced off just once before in 2018.
