Georgia Bulldogs Host Kentucky for Homecoming Showdown

By Don Stone, Football Atlanta

The Georgia Bulldogs return home to Sanford Stadium this Saturday for a pivotal Southeastern Conference matchup as they host the Kentucky Wildcats in the Bulldogs’ annual Homecoming game.

After a 3-1 start to the season, including a hard-fought 24-21 Southeastern Conference loss to Alabama last week, the Bulldogs look to rebound on their home turf against Kentucky, who always brings a tenacious challenge in SEC play. Georgia currently stands with a 1-1 conference record and will be eager to defend their home ground before a packed crowd in Athens.

Key Storylines: Georgia’s defense, coordinated by Glenn Schumann, has been a stout unit this season, but they will face a balanced Wildcat offense that features a mix of physical running and accurate passing. Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo’s offense aims to continue its productive output following strong performances in their earlier games.

This game also marks a key moment for the Bulldogs freshmen and young players to gain crucial SEC experience at home amidst the electric atmosphere of Homecoming weekend festivities. A few look to make amends for costly mistakes in last week’s game.

Fan Experience: Fans attending the game can expect classic Homecoming traditions with pregame festivities on the UGA campus, and ample excitement surrounding this home SEC game. Good luck getting tickets because the game is an official sell out.

The Dawgs are 82-18-2 on Homecoming winning the last eight seasons with Kentucky who were last in Athens for the event in 2021 with UGA winning 30-13.

Georgia has the second longest winning streak (15) against any opponent in the Wildcats and are 64-12-2 overall.

Fans should remember, though, that Mark Stoops’ team always plays Kirby Smart tough almost winning last season’s game in Lexington 13-12. UGA actually trailed at the half 6-3 with their defense holding them to only three first downs and 63 yards.

The Cats are 2-2 on the 2025 season with both losses coming in the SEC to South Carolina last week 35-13.

It is a must-watch game in Athens as the Bulldogs strive to build momentum continuing through the thick of the SEC season.

Bulldogs fans can look forward to a competitive and spirited contest as Georgia seeks to get back on track in the SEC division keep their championship hopes alive.

It’s an early noon kickoff, with live coverage on ABC and ESPN3.
